Current News About Our Students and Faculty

Each year faculty from Lipscomb attend the CCSC:SE (Consortium for Computing in Sciences in Colleges: Southeastern section).  This year Lipscomb was pleased to be the host for that conference.   Students and faculty participated.  There were about 80 faculty from various colleges and universities throughout the southeast.  There was a programming contest with approximately 100 students.  Lipscomb had two teams participate.  Many of our students also participated in other ways by being aids in the classrooms where presentations were given, assist with the contest and assist with checkin at meals and registration.

Bryan Bates presented a paper, "C# as a First Language: a Comparioson with C++" as part of the conference.  This paper was entered into the student paper competition and published in the proceedings for the conference.

One of our students, Jeremy Howard, was accepted into a program at the University of Alabama this summer where he worked with a group of 16 students and faculty on wireless research.  This was a great opportunity for Jeremy.  We want to congratulate him on his acceptance and fine work in the program.

Visit the Independent Study link on this site to view the work of two of our students, Danny Aponte and Nate Sylvester.  Danny did an independant study in Flash Programming while Nate did his in PHP.   You might need to download the Flash plug in to see the Flash Movies.  Nate's web site is stored on a server inside the firewall so you must be on campus to view it.  Matt Palmer did one in PHP  this summer but it is not available.  Tony Franco did an independant study in advanced web design where he used Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and advanced Flash tehcniques.  Daniel Sounthonevichith also did an independant study in PHP at the same time during the fall.  The last part of their proect was combined and they designed a site for one of the local bands here in town.  We will place a link when it is on the server and ready for viewing.
